Leaves are dark green and turn reddish-purple to scarlet in the fall. Flowers bloom from May to June and are white to light pinkish. Tree produces white, berry-like fruits that mature to pinkish red in the summer and last into the fall. The fruits are edible but do not have a pleasant taste. Prefers medium moisture and well-drained soil.
